I made a slide hammer attachment to pull the caps. I welded the zerk at an angle so the slide hammer will clear the other side of the bob tach. Could it be a taper that needs to be cracked to release it? If it has a bolt that pulls in in, loosen it, hit it with a hammer to break the seal and it shoudl slide out.

All I have ever done is take the bolt out and hit the top of the cylinder with a sledge hammer it will shock it and most times come lose Look to be 5" by 1 1/2". Might need to remeasure the taper so there's fill contact for strength.
