Does anybody have any suggestions on a heavy duty snow plow designed to be run on skid steers? I am starting to look for a replacement blade for next winter. Currently I am running a 7 1/2 foot Curtis blade with pro-wings on a JD 325 skid equipped with Wolf Paw tires and a two speed. My problem is that the blade is just not holding up. All 1/4" angle layed a piece across top and one under where tails were then boxed in around those, added a few more to complete the push frame, took 3/8" across top to reinforce and and our angle for skid to slide in and did same on bottom cut holes for latches to slide in added some triangle gussets for additional support on top, 2 pieces of 2 .

Assumptions: You don't just want to run 12V out to the end of the arms and use the factory pump. The skid steer has one set of flow hydraulics out to the end of the arms, whether open center or closed center. I have ran 8'2" v-blades, 9'2" v-blades, and 8'0" Super duty straight blades with wings on our 02 GMC 2500HD Crew Cab Duramax for the past 7 years without trouble. BOSS does not even recommend any plow for this truck.Most truck damage is going to occur from operator error, not just having the plow on the front of a truck.
Really all the plow needs from the truck is inputs. 12v and control circuits. The problem may be the amps required from the alternator/battery of the SS. If you dont want to make it ever go on a truck again i would remove the pump and connect it to the SS hydraulics.

Just an observation from somebody with much less plowing experience than most here but with 25 years of experience in the skid steer and tractor loader attachment industry. here is an old 7'6" Western we turned into a skid plow, bought a mounting plate and welded on what we needed to make the brackets, a few hours and done works fine and backs up the other plows, good to have laying around just in case, prob some wings before next season, i like the chain to float with the contour and a bit of help when the man .
