Guys-I have a new Cat 299D2 XHP I bought for mulching. I am looking at heads and would like some input. I have a larger forestry machine with a Fecon head (which is admittedly older) and have done a demo with an FAE head. Fecon is going to bring me a skid steer head to demo. So, having said this, I would go with a dedicated mulcher if you buy anything. The newer Rayco mulchers are pretty reliable, but stay away from any of the older models, like 2012 or older. The newer Fecon mulchers are also pretty good. Again, those built before about 2010 or 2012 are very prone to breakdowns. I purchased one and it showed up Friday afternoon. I went with the Titan (off brand) due to pricing. ,700 delivered to my door vs the next closest one ,750 (Quick Attach).
we have a small creek that runs through our hay meadow. i used the mower to cut trees of 2" to 10" on the creek bank and let them fall in the creek. you can angle/tilt the mower down a slope such as the creek bank and leave the skid setting up on the bank. works much better than a tractor/brushog combo.

I have a triple axle trailer I just hauled a Kubota svl97-2 with a mulcher, bucket and 84” grapple rake 400 miles.
