I have a blown seal on the right lift cylinder. After reading up on it a bit, it sounds much easier to fix it without removing the entire cylinder. This is not covered in my manual though so I have a couple of questions on how to proceed.Customer: i have a 642b Bobcat and this last weekend i blew the hydraulic line to the left side lift arm. I replace that and now the arms will raise but will not go down until i shut it off then it will.

Fish the piston back out and use a ring compressor to compress the yellow seal back onto the cylinder. The yellow seal will take its shape after a few minutes and the ring compressor can then be removed. Make sure the piston is dried before using the ring compressor.
The easiest thing to check is holding the valve over the relief by lifting the arms all the way up and holding them there for 10 seconds. If one cylinder feels warm where the piston is, then that one is leaking. If neither feel warm, then you can cap the lines and test.fix it yourself & save that money !!2guys how2
I was going to try to twist the arms back by pulling the arms in the other direction with a chain and tractor. Hoping to bend it back in palce and then grind the welds back out and have them rewelded. The Bucket Tilt spool seals were leaking so I replace them both. Front and Back. Complete and refilled with oil. 30 minutes of operation and the Lift spool seals blew (Backside ).
