It's possible the piston or whatever it uses to release the brake is rusted up or sticky casuing the thicker oil to not work properly. Hi Goose, great info about the parking brake. I had to open it on my 1994 case 1840 since the pin would not engage at all. The staple 41, spacer 37 and washer 46 were fairly easy to remove but the spring 40 would not come out. At some point in a prior life, mine had a parking brake apply causing the area where the parking pin goes through the chain case to crack and bend. It was rewelded but I'll need to touch it up and install a proper pin.
