What brand of 5% moly grease do you use on your excavator, loader or other earthmover? I have tried Conoco Phillips 5% moly, DA lubricants 5% moly, Brad Penn 5% moly, Mobil xhp 322, and others. I find these nlgi 2 greases to be too thin and not tacky enough.
I grease mine a whole lot less frequently than I used too and I only use Scaeffer's synthetic grease! There's a thread in the Lubrication Forum on this product. I use timken construction and off road equipment grease at work. At 5% moly I think it is awesome grease, but I'd have a hard time recommending it to somebody to buy it. From what I see it is - a tube. For 14 oz the tube looks short filled. There is always several air pockets that result is wasted grease trying g to prime the gun again.
For work that requires steady machine exposure to wet conditions, marine grease is often the best choice. Some are made with lithium complex thickeners, but all will protect parts from both salt and fresh water. As a bonus, most marine greases will also protect machines during extreme pressure uses.
