Hello I have a Massey Ferguson 711 Skid steer with a Wisconsin vh4d engine. The engine starts easily and runs well but the compression is low and it has very bad blowby it also leaks oil so it got me thinking about what other engines could I put in it has anyone here ever replaced one of these Wisconsin engines for a small truck engine or a Vangaurd v twin engine?

Try turning side to side and..well.It feels like its binding, wont rotate around and almost stalls the engine. Fluids are clean and filled. Replaced hand steering pump, pressure tested the high pressure pump which the steering works off and it’s good (2100 lbs). Replaced priority valve. Checked low pressure pump it’s good. Jacked up front and spindles are free. Replaced seals in the bull horns at the steering motor. We have a 46 MF 35 which is really hard to steer and esp hard to turn to the right. We've adjusted the steering arms. Please if anyone knows what else we might try to fix the problem aside from digging into the steering column that would be great! Thanks. Shawn Hi Mr rltusch. Yes you can But make sure the engine is stopped ,the hydraulic system is depressured i.e. wiggle the levers back and forth.up and down etc to make sure there is no trapped pressure in there ,undo the cap and disconnect the link on the top and it will pull out as an assembly ,repair and refit .

Double check with the neighbor that he (or someone else) didn't add fluid to the system recently, because the steering wouldn't work. May have air in the system. A simple thing to try is to jack up the front axle and make it steer full right, keeping the reservoir topped up. Then steer full left again keeping the reservoir topped up. Some tractors would have enough flow to begin to be comparable to a skid steer, while other tractors would be seriously lacking. You could still run hydraulic implements but they'd be slower and not as powerful as they would on the skid steer. The skid steer hydraulics are generally higher pressure and have more volume passage. I'll attach an exploded view to try and clear up what My words are inadequate to describe but keep in mind the drawing is NOT a Massey, it's a pretty generic drawing but close enough.
